"Heavy Horns" - (SJ21.15)
SculptJanuary is an annual event that aims to encourage artists to sculpt more by providing them with 31 topics to complete during the month of January. It is organized by CG Boost.
There are no prizes involved, but it can make you a better sculptor.
In 2021 I completed all 31 topics. Last year I presented them here on ArtStation in weekly episodes, but I've changed my mind, I'm posting them all separately now anyway.
"Heavy Horns" was the topic of SculptJanuary 2021 Day 15.
This was my interpretation of that theme :-)
Starting from a cube...
...I tried to model a cow...
...in a few steps...
...I sculpted...
...only one leg...
copy and paste is more efficient :-)
I also added horns now...(not really 'heavy horns' for the moment)...
...and a tail...
...Finally, this looked like a normal cow to me...
But this was just the beginning...I dragged the heavy body up...
...and I pushed the legs outward...
...and put all the loose pieces together again...
I improved and repaired a few things...especially the neck...
A strange pose for a cow, I agree :-)
And finally those horns...
I made them huge!!!...
I also added the 'normal version' for a more balanced composition - and for the comical effect of course :-)
Finally I added some color...
...and enhanced the boring grass with a procedural texture...
This seemed okay to me...

Oh, by the way, I made a mistake that day: my cows had no ears! I only noticed it later. Stupid! :-)
